The digital economy continues to reshape how we learn, work, and create opportunities. For many young women, however, access to advanced digital skills and dignified work remains limited. This reality is what makes my participation in the 10X Program both meaningful and transformative. I am proud to be among the young women participating in this cohort an experience that is already shaping my journey in powerful ways.
The 10X Program is implemented by Outbox (U), UNCDF, Refactory Academy, and WITU, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The program is designed to inclusively equip young women with advanced digital skills while intentionally connecting us to dignified and sustainable work opportunities within the digital economy. It is not just a training program; it is a deliberate investment in the potential of young women.
Through Refactory Academy, the program is working towards inclusively skilling over 9,400 young women and linking 6,300 of them to meaningful employment, entrepreneurship, and freelancing opportunities. Being part of this wider mission has helped me understand that my individual growth is connected to a collective effort to reduce inequality and build a more inclusive digital future.
Learning Beyond Technical Skills
As a participant in this cohort, I am experiencing learning that goes far beyond technical knowledge. While digital and technology skills are at the core of the program, there is a strong emphasis on personal development, problem-solving, collaboration, and career readiness. The learning environment encourages curiosity, innovation, and confidence—qualities that are essential in today’s fast-changing digital landscape.
The program recognizes that young women need more than tools; we need guidance, mentorship, and exposure. Through structured learning, mentorship opportunities, and peer engagement, I am gaining clarity about my career direction and how my skills can be applied to real-world challenges. This approach makes the learning practical, relevant, and empowering.
Creating Pathways to Dignified Work
One of the most impactful aspects of the 10X Program is its focus on dignified work. The program goes beyond job placement by preparing participants for sustainable careers that respect our skills, ambitions, and values. Whether through employment, entrepreneurship, or freelancing, the emphasis is on long-term economic empowerment.
As young women, we are being positioned not only as job seekers but also as creators and leaders in the digital economy. The exposure to entrepreneurial thinking and real market opportunities is helping me see new possibilities—how technology can be used to solve problems, build businesses, and create social impact within our communities.
A Community of Growth and Support
Being part of this cohort means being surrounded by other young women who are equally driven, curious, and ambitious. The sense of community and shared purpose has been incredibly motivating. Learning alongside peers who understand the challenges and opportunities of navigating the digital space as young women creates an environment of mutual support and inspiration.
The partnerships behind the 10X Program demonstrate what is possible when organizations intentionally invest in young women. The collaboration between Outbox, UNCDF, Refactory Academy, WITU, and the Mastercard Foundation reflects a strong commitment to inclusion, equity, and sustainable development.
Looking Ahead
Participating in the 10X Program has reaffirmed my belief that digital skills are a powerful tool for transformation both at an individual and community level. This experience is equipping me with the confidence, knowledge, and networks needed to actively participate in the digital economy and contribute meaningfully to its growth.
As I continue this journey, I am excited about the opportunities ahead and committed to using the skills I gain to create impact, inspire others, and contribute to a more inclusive digital future. Being part of this cohort is not just a milestone it is the foundation for a future defined by possibility, purpose, and growth.
